Article: Reasons to Seek Life Coaching
You might consult a life coach to assist you to:
* Growth and development in new ways
* Be MORE THAN you were before
* Help your life go more easily
* Be happier and more joyful in living
LIFE COACHING vs. PSYCHOTHERAPY
Life Coaching is VERY different from psychotherapy, on several significant fronts:
* Life Coaching is NOT therapy; indeed, it is not a substitute for psychotherapy. However, coaching can be provided by a qualified coach concurrently with psychotherapy.
* Life Coaching is primarily about goal achievement, not emotional healing. Psychotherapy deals with emotional healing, focuses directly on relieving psychological pain and treats cognitive disorders; coaching does not even pretend to do any of this.
* Life Coaching focuses on creating goal-success here and now, in the present and continuing it on into the future; psychotherapy often deals with resolving issues from -- and/or understanding -- the past.
* The life coach makes a request of the client to promote action toward the client's desired outcome; psychotherapy frequently focuses on fixing or removing a client's problem.
* The relationship between client and life coach is one of partners. The psychotherapeutic relationship is one of authority, expert and/or healer.
